Student Terms and Conditions

Tuition
1.01. Creative Music Academy currently carries out in-house music tuition with the following instruments; Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Piano, Keyboard and singing.
1.02. Hours of business are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (4:30pm to 9:00pm) and Saturday, Sunday (10:00am – 4:30pm).
1.03. Lessons are conducted in 30 minute and 60 minute intervals for the purpose of billing and bookings. Customers are able to book as many lessons a week as they feel necessary.
1.04. All of the teachers at Creative Music academy possess the enhanced CRB documentation and is available upon request from the receptionist. Enhanced CRB checks are a condition of employment at Creative Music Academy.
1.05. New potential customers will receive one free lesson, please refer to item 2 for full terms and conditions.
1.06. Each lesson will be carried out for no longer than has been booked prior to the lesson due to scheduling constraints.
1.07. All equipment is supplied within each teaching room to facilitate the lesson (Amps, Tuner, Pianos, Keyboards, leads, etc.). Although Creative Music academy has a number of Guitars and Basses available to use for your lessons, it is strongly encouraged to have your own for your lessons and home practice, with stringed instruments, it is easier to learn on a familiar instrument.
1.08. Most of the teaching rooms have a facility to record your lesson in real time onto an MP3 player or USB storage device. Please Note: We are unable to record onto Ipod's or any other device that uses its own format to record and store data. This is a great teaching aid and can be uploaded to your computer to listen to it as many times as you like.
Disclaimer: This is provided as is with no warranty what so ever, Creative Music Academy or its staff will not be held liable for any loss of data, or damage to equipment. Although this has been tried and tested and been found to be very reliable, by using this equipment, you agree to do so entirely at your own risk.
A suitable recording may not be guaranteed, although the quality and legibility has been found to be general very good. Creative Music Academy offers recordings as a free service, it has no monetary value and does not constitute part of the lesson or part or any of the lesson fees.
Recordings are not available for free/taster group or home lessons.
1.09. Creative Music Academy staff teachers pledged to teach to the best of his ability at all times. -
Free Lesson Policy
2.01. Creative Music Academy operates a free lesson or taster lesson to enable new potential customers to evaluate our service and also to see if music tuition in their chosen instrument is for them.
2.02. Free lessons are available for any new potential customer under the following conditions;
I. The potential customer has not been a customer of Creative Music Academy before.
II. The potential customer has not been refused a free lesson from Creative Music Academy before.
III. Has not received a free lesson from Creative Music Academy within the last 24 Months.
2.03. A free lesson will last for a duration of no longer than 30 minutes
2.04. At the end of a free lesson, potential customers will be asked whether they are interested enrolling for lessons at Creative Music Academy. Potential customers are under no obligation to sign up -
Fees
3.01. For current fees, please check the website: http://www.creativemusicacademy.com
3.02. Fees must be paid one ahead and up front to secure a time slot. This can be paid by cash, credit card, debit card or cheque accompanied be a cheque guarantee card.
3.03. The one lesson payment up front must be maintained through out the customers time with Creative Music Academy.
3.04. If the customer decides to leave the services of Creative Music academy, the single lesson payment up front will be used to pay for the last lesson. No cash refund will be given.
3.05. If a customer is in financial difficulties but would like to carry on with lessons, he/she is requested to talk to the receptionist in confidence. -
Cancellation Policy
4.01. All booked lessons have to be paid for whether taken or cancelled.
4.02. Any cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the lesson is due to start to avoid a penalty charge.
(Penalty charge will be the the prepaid upfront lesson fee which will have to be repaid upon your next lesson visit)
4.03. Cancellations before the 24 hour period will be credited to your account and an alternative lesson will be arranged with the same teacher or an alternative teacher within the same week.
If an alternative lesson is unable to be booked within the same week the cancellation is made, then the cancelled lesson will have to be paid for under the same terms as 4.02.
4.04. You will not be charged for lessons cancelled by the music teacher. -
Grievance Policy
5.01. If customers have any complaints about Creative Music Academy or staff or other customers, please log into the Creative Music Academy http://www.creativemusicacademy.com and post your grievance via the the contact page. (Please make sure you are logged in when you do this) your grievance will be dealt with quickly and confidentially. -
Child Protection Policy
6.01. Our child protection policy and CRB documents are available upon request. -
Special Needs
7.01. Creative Music Academy's policy on special needs is as follows;
Everyone should be able to participate in music and music lessons and so the staff at Creative Music Academy will make every effort to accommodate any one with special needs, what ever they are.
If a customer or customers child does have special needs, please let the member of staff know at the time of booking the lesson. -
Student Commitment
8.01. Upon participating in a lesson, the teacher has pledged to teach to the best of his ability and so it follows that the customer/student should pledge to learn to the best of his/her ability. See 1.09
8.02. Customers/Students are asked to arrive for their lesson at least 5 minutes before the lesson is due to start.
Failure to do this could delay the lesson and subsequent lessons that follow.
With this in mind, Creative Music Academy reserves the right to either cut the lesson time down so that it finishes on time or if the customer is too late, cancel it altogether. No refund will be given in this instance.
If a valid reason for being late and a phone call to Creative Music Academy using the usual phone numbers is given, then it will be the discretion of the Creative Music academy management whether the lesson can be rebooked for another time in the same week as 4.03
8.03. It is requested that to make the most of lessons at Creative Music Academy, customer/students must make time at home practising what has been taught. This is a proven method that aids learning and familiarity in the chosen instrument. (at least 10 minutes a day is a good guideline) -
Ear Protection
9.01. All lessons are taught at low volume, the only exception to this is drums which due to their very nature has no volume control as such. If customers/students feel that ear protection is necessary you are advised to bring ear protection with you or these can be provided free of charge from the reception desk.
9.02. If customers/students decide not to ware ear protection they will be asked to sign a waiver. -
Exams
10.01. Customers must not ask teachers to book exams, this must be done by the receptionist. -
Learning Materials
11.01. Creative Music Academy provides a number of learning materials, these are as follows;
I. Hand written music/tablature, written by the teacher at the time of the lesson.
II. Backing tracks are available via the Creative Music Academy website
III. Live recordings of lessons, available upon request. See 1.08
Please Note: Please do not ask teachers to supply backing tracks, please request backing tracks are made available on-line by speaking to the receptionist of by sending an email via the website.
If you require a hard copy of backing tracks, this can be arranged for a small fee. -
Website Usage
12.01. The website: http:/www.creativemusicacademy.com has a member area which is available to all customers/students by logging in by using a user-name and password which will be given at the time of sighing up at Creative Music Academy for lessons. This member area allows access to privileged pages that offer a catalogue of stream-able backing tracks, forum, profile page, private messaging, member notifications etc. By using the Creative Music Academy website you agree to its terms and conditions, a copy is available on the site.
12.02. The member area of the website is made available solely for the use of customers/students of Creative Music Academy. Passwords to this area are to remain private and not for the use of any other person. Creative Music Academy reserves the right to terminate access to the member only area if it believes that 12.01 has been breached. -
General Disclaimer
13.01. Creative Music Academy;
I. Accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or theft of personal belongings.
II. Reserves the right to alter advertised tutors at any time.
III. Reserves the right to update, change, amend this T&C at any time without notice
IIII. Reserves to review and change fees as required, a period of 60 days notice will be given.
V. If a customers usual teacher is sick, Creative Music Academy reserves the right, without notice, to appoint a substitute teacher to stand in until the customers usual teacher returns.
